Disney Channel’s Stuck in the Middle Cast are easily seven reasons why your family wants to watch this show.
The single-camera comedy series follows 12-year-old Harley Diaz as she maneuvers her way through the bustle of being a middle child in a family with six other siblings. The heartfelt and comedic stories of a big family find Harley devising creative ways to cope with – and stand out – in her family’s busy suburban Massachusetts household. Her ingenuity often wins the day for the Diaz family, even with many different personalities living under one roof.

Starring Jenna Ortega (“Jane the Virgin”) as Harley Diaz, an engineering whiz who uses her inventions to navigate life as the middle child in a family of seven kids. Playing her siblings are Ronni Hawk as Rachel, Kayla Maisonet (“Dog With A Blog”) as Georgie, Isaak Presley (“Austin & Ally”) as Grant, Nicolas Bechtel (“General Hospital”) as Danny, Malachi Barton (“Best Friends Whenever”) as Beast and Ariana Greenblatt (“Liv and Maddie”) as Daphne.
Jenna is from a big family so we asked if her real life influences the show.
“I’m one of six kids but if you add one of my nephews there’s seven. But my sister just had another nephew so now there’s eight of us. And they’re always over at the house because we babysit them so there are eight kids in my family I guess you could say. So it’s pretty big.” It’s such a close match to her own life that Cerina Vincent, who plays her mom Suzy, though the show was actually based on Jenna. “I thought that Disney created the show for her and the family because there are so many parallels. It was perfectly designed.”

Do you like being stuck in the middle?
Jenna –I love being stuck in the middle. I like Harley’s storyline because at first, she’s kind uncertain of like where she’s going with her life. She feels very invisible but later on she realizes that she is very important. She plays a very important role in her family. I think it’s important to know that for those middle children out there who feel like they’re not noticed that they are. And they are very important in the families because they make their families their families.
What’s the chemistry like on set?
Ariana –Family, just straight up family.Off the set, we hang out at dinners. And we really love each other.
Jenna –We see each other Monday through Fridays so it’s like we’re always together.It’s like they’re my second family.
Joe –And that happened right from day one. It was immediate and fantastic.
Malachi –In real life, we don’t have any siblings. So it’s like interesting but it’s really fun to have siblings onset.
Cerina –I’m not a mother in real life. But I always wanted seven kids. And it just like was a weird childhood thing. And I have them all but in a different form. It’s really cool. We’re bonded.

Isaak –What’s great is that because we’re like a real family we have everything which really helps brings the onset chemistry. I mean we have the bickering and we have the jokes and we have the emotional moments together that really helps bring that to the screen. You know if everything was happy and joyful 24/7 I feel like it’d be very phony. But because we experience all the emotions that kids do it really helps onscreen.
With a cast as fun as they are, we had to ask if there are any on-set pranks going on. Apparently, an April Fool’s Day prank has a story.
Jenna –We have to get Isaak before he gets us. So Isaak is like the biggest Oreo fan. So my siblings and I, we got a packet of Oreos and we opened one of them. And we put deodorant in there. And Isaac runs in and we’re eating like the normal ones. And he said, oh my gosh, give me one, give me one. So we give him the deodorant ones.
Issak Pressley –I walked right into it.
The whole cast was laughing, saying that he screamed like a girl.

Let’s talk about when they got to create you Wand IDs for The Disney Channel.
Jenna –I used to twirl my baton and look into the mirror and say, “Hi, I’m Jenna Ortega and you’re watching Disney Channel.
Ariana –I think there’s a tape of me at four years old doing my own Wand ID.
When they had their chance to do it for real, they were able to watch each other take turns. It was a big deal for them all, it emotions took over.
Jenna –Ronni was going and I was like screaming. I was so excited by the time it came to me. I did the first one and then I started balling. And the makeup artist was like, Jenna, you’ve got makeup on, be careful!
To sum it all up in one word each, what does Stuck in the Middle mean to you?
Joe – Special.
Cerina –Gratitude.
Ronni – Joy.
Kayla –Gift.
Isaak –Indescribable.
Jenna –Relatable.
Nicolas – Exciting.
Malachi –Amazing.
Ariana –Everything.
