So you’re headed to Pompano Beach, Florida? What is there to do? What should we see? Where should we stay? These are all questions you are probably asking yourself.
Since Pompano Beach is on the beach, there are lots of water related activities to partake in. Parasailing, kite surfing, scuba diving, and snorkeling are all good options. If that’s not quite your thing, there are lots of places to rent jet skis, kayaks, banana boats, or other fun water toys.
For a perfectly located, yet affordable experience, consider staying at the La Costa Beach Club. Even though you’re just a few miles from the hustle and bustle of Fort Lauderdale, it feels as if you’re worlds away.
Since you’re already staying at the La Costa Beach Club resort, why not take advantage of the amenities? There is 300 feet of private beach with a great coral reef a couple hundred yards offshore. Visitors are welcome to explore the reef as long as you don’t disturb it. Sometimes, though, you may want to indulge in freshwater entertainment. No problem! La Costa Beach Club has three pools, one being indoors, and two hot tubs as well.
There are several options for rooms at the La Costa Beach Club. From the studios that include a sofa and a murphy bed to the fully appointed one bedroom townhouse that includes a kitchen. Traveling with the family? You might want to consider the two bedroom suite that includes a queen bed in one room and two twin beds in the second bedroom as well as a living room area. It’s always nice to not have to sit where you sleep. Now it’s not fancy, but it’s clean, in a perfect location and it’s nice to have that full kitchen.
Explore the Pompano Beach & Ft Lauderdale area a little, and you’ll find all kinds of great things to do. There are world class golf courses where you can book a tee time. Perhaps you want to play a little tennis? There are options to do so at local country clubs and at great public facilities. Many country clubs either have an agreement with local resorts, or will allow tourists to purchase a temporary pass.
Perhaps you get your enjoyment from a little retail therapy. Nearly any store that you’d want to visit is at your fingertips. Pictured above is the great shopping mall Pompano Citi Center. Coupled with the nearby Sawgrass Mills outlet stores, the area is a shopper’s paradise.
Another option is to book a boat excursion. The Jungle Queen cruise up the Intercoastal Waterway is a Pompano Beach tradition. You’ll get to see the homes of the rich and famous, as well as the other sights of the city. There are also several luxurious yacht cruises that you can take that are fairly similar. If you’re looking for a little more adventure, book a deep sea fishing trip. The waters of Pompano Beach are renowned for their fishing.
Of course, there are a couple places that you can’t miss. The first is the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse. First lit in 1907, the light is one of the most powerful in the world. It’s still in use, and helps guide ships around the coral reef. You can go see the lighthouse, but they only offer tours a few days a year. The other is the Goodyear Blimp Base. One of only 4 blimp bases in the world, it’s open to the public. When the blimp is in town, the public is welcome to tour the blimp and the base.
When you’re looking for fun in the sun, Pompano Beach has a little something for everyone.
