Last month I received the Keurig K550 2.0 Brewer to review. Let me first say that this would be my 3rd Keurig over the past 2 plus years. Not because anything was wrong with them, but because I have been lucky to have a few upgrades thanks to doing what I do. So it’s important to say I was already a Keurig fan when I received the latest coffee maker that has enough new features to get the smallest of coffee fans excited.
Here’s the Keurig description for you, right off their site. Scroll down to see what I think of the new Keurig 2.0.
Say Hello to the Keurig® 2.0 K550 Brewing System — the first Keurig system that features revolutionary Keurig 2.0 Brewing Technology™ which is designed to read the lid of each K-Cup™ or K-Carafe™ pack to brew the perfect beverage every time. The K550 brewer allows you to brew a 4-cup carafe with the same ease and convenience of brewing a single-serve cup — all at the touch of a button. It’s so smart, and so simple! The brewer has other great features including an extra large 80 ounce water reservoir, 2.8 inch color touch display, programmable clock, an auto brew option and a strength control setting for brewing bolder coffee. There’s even a separate setting for hot cocoa and other specialty beverages like lattes and mochas. The K550 model also has a customizable night light in the water reservoir and offers hot water on demand. So many options to choose from — not at all like a typical coffee maker.

Let’s Talk Coffee: Keurig 2.0 Review
I do like having the option of having the carafe. I do. But it isn’t practical for me all of the time. So having the option of both is spectacular. We have used the carafe a few times in the morning when we both are having coffee at the same time. In the end we realized it does save a little on the K-cups if you do make a carafe. Saving money is always a good thing.
The touch screen is pretty cool, and having the options to have your water glow different colors is cool. I have had my water both green and blue. I have also played with the display screen options. One of the things, going back to the carafe, not that it takes very long to brew a pot of coffee, but if you are one of those people that like to have a pot ready, Keurig 2.0 has the ability to set a timer to make your pot or cup! Kinda nice isn’t it? I guess since I truly love the machine the one thing that is a bit of a bummer is that not all K-Cups are compatible with the new brewer. You have to look for the white outer ring, and the black Keurig Brewed® seal on the lid. On K-Carafe™ packs, look for the dark rim and the noticeable green dot on the lid. So if you have a favorite brand, then you would have to consider if you are willing to try one that is compatible. Good thing there are 250+ varieties. 40+ brands to shop from! I love my Keurig, I’ve had it for four years, it just keeps going and going. This looks like a nice one, maybe I’ll upgrade to this one soon.
