As if I wasn’t lucky enough during my trip to LA last month to experience the premiere of Disney/Pixar’s Brave, the screening of People Like Us from Dreamworks, and all the fun at Disney’s California Adventure Park’s Cars Land, I had the pleasure of seeing an extended preview of Tim Burton’s new movie Frankenweenie.
Not everyone is a Tim Burton fan. His films are usually dark and usually keeps my daughter up at night even at the age of 12. Watching the extended version of Frankenweenie completely captured my attention and I quickly fell into the story and wanted to see what would happen next.
“From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.”
As you can see by the trailer, this movie is a stop-motion animated film in black and white, just as Tim Burton’s other stop-motion films “Corpse Bride” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas”—both of which were nominated for Academy Awards®. To bring Frankenweenie to another level, it’ll also be rendered in 3D. Very entertaining!
Frankenweenie opens October 5th!
