While covering ABC shows, set visits and time with the cast is always fun. You not only get a look at their TV lives, but you also get to see them out of character, which is refreshing and a reminder of the level of talent of the actors. Take Dr. Ken on ABC for example.
Recently during one of my LA press trips for the Moana Event, we hung out on the set of Dr. Ken for a bit. We chatted with the cast, played on the set, and got a good idea what it’s like to work on the show.
Here are some fun photos from the set.
Dr. Ken on ABC
Doctor turned actor/comedian Ken Jeong plays Dr. Ken, a brilliant physician with no bedside manner. He is always trying to be a good doctor, as well as a good husband and dad to his two kids. Luckily, his therapist wife Allison is just the right partner to keep things sane.
“Dr. Ken” stars Ken Jeong as Dr. Ken, Suzy Nakamura as Allison, Tisha Campbell Martin as Damona, Jonathan Slavin as Clark, Albert Tsai as Dave, Krista Marie Yu as Molly, Dana Lee as D.K. and Dave Foley as Pat.
Tonight on Dr. Ken on ABC
“D.K.’s New Girlfriend” – When D.K. overhears Allison complain about him overstaying his welcome, he decides to move in with his girlfriend of three weeks. Meanwhile, Pat wants Dave to pretend he’s his adopted son; and Allison is convinced Molly wants to talk about something when she suggests they do a spa day, but the tables turn when Molly is the one doling out the advice, on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2 (8:31-9:00 p.m. EST), on the ABC Television
Network.Guest cast: Cheryl Bricker as Linda, Gillian Vigman as Megan, Veronica Mannion as the technician.
The cast sat down to chat with us a little bit about this episode. While chatting with the Ken Jeong, heshared that he and his wife are physicians. The medical consultant and the two of them are very good friends and started out working together as physicians. “My wife and the consultant came up with this really great idea for this episode. The patient case during this holiday season, well it deals with a lot of depression. So we wanted to have a Christmas-y episode and throw a party, and we have been building up to this all season. Allison is adjusting to working as a solo practitioner. This is based on truth.”
Spoilers were shared and on the episode airing tonight something big happens. So not only talking about suicidal overture, but it has the light-hearted feel as you’d expect from the show.
