I am not a huge fan of doing dishes. I mean, for me, whether it’s hand washing or using the dishwasher, I am a bit over the top weird about my dishes being clean. If you are like me, you probably have spent more time soaking and cleaning the dishes before loading them in the dishwasher than it actually would take to clean them and put them away. I always feel that if I put my dish in with food caked on, it will come out with pieces of what we had for dinner still caked on the dish.
And then Cascade asked if I would be interested in doing a campaign using their Cascade Platinum and Rinse Aid products. The more I read about how they want you NOT to pre-wash your dishes before loading them in the dishwasher, I was interested. I mean, really?? We all know that you you have to get that food off first or it will still be there after, right?
This is what I learned! The reason why you need to skip the pre-wash is that Cascade Platinum works best when food soil is left on dishes because its special enzymes latch onto that food, breaking it down so it can wash away. If there’s no food soil, there’s nothing for the enzymes to attach to and your detergent isn’t working its hardest for you. Oh, well, ok, that makes sense!
So I had a little dinner party. On the menu was mac and cheese, with some salad and bread. For dessert, some brownies that I made that morning morning. As you can see, when it was time to clean up, I didn’t do any pre-washing. I simply tossed the large bits of food into the trash then stopped there. I didn’t run anything under the water. I just loaded the messy dishes and utensils into the dishwasher. I LOVE this HUGE time-saving tip that Cascade shared with me!
So how do they look after? Nice! Clean! No left caked on food, and for me, what I love the most – no residue!
So where does that food go? I wondered, and Cascade answered. There’s no need to worry about food left on the dishes damaging your machine or pipes. Did you know there is a garbage disposal built into the bottom of almost all dishwashers that works exactly like the disposal in your sink? Yup. That is where the food goes. It all suddenly makes sense
So, not only am I saving water, soap, and most importantly TIME, but I am also really happy and impressed at how clean the dishes came out in the end.
