When I decided to make some Banana Nutella Bread, I thought about doing it all from scratch. But the thing is…I just wanted to make it and do it quickly. So for those who like to do it all homemade, then use your favorite recipe. For me, I relied on the good ‘ole Pillsbury Dough Boy!
Banana Nutella Bread and Muffins
Call it cheating, call it lazy, I don’t care because once you make these you will just possibly call me and say thank you! I have an adoration for Nutella (close to the same that I have for my crispy bacon), so making this banana bread that was inspired by a blog post that I pinned here on my Pinterest was inevitable. It was so good that once the bread was done, I had to make muffins.
What do you need?
Banana Bread –
1 box of Pillsbury Banana Bread mix
1/4 cup vegetable oil plus 1 teaspoon
2 eggs
1 cup water
1 Jar of Nutella
1/4 cup of mayonnaise
1 ripe banana
Follow the directions on the box. Before you get to the part where it says pour into a grease pan, come back to this part of the post for this is where I add my little touches. First, add the mayonnaise and the banana and mix with a mixer on low until blended. Next, in a microwave safe dish, put about 5 tablespoons of Nutella and 1 teaspoon of oil. Microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds or until melted. Then pour half of the batter into a greased bread pan. Take the melted Nutella mixture and pour it over the batter. Cover the Nutella mixture with the remaining batter. Then follow the cooking directions as far as time for the size pan you used on the box from the mix.
Adding mayonnaise is a family thing. My Cuban grandmother insisted that it made your batter moist. I agree. As I mentioned, the bread was really, really good! So good that we decided to make the muffins. And these to me are actually better.
Muffins – Makes 18
1 Box Pillsbury Banana Bread Mix
1/2 cup vegetable oil plus 2 teaspoons
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 Jar Nutella
1/4 cup of mayonnaise
1 ripe banana
Follow the directions on the box. When you get to the part where it says divide batter evenly among muffin cups, come back to this part of the post. First, add the mayonnaise and the banana and mix with a mixer on low until blended. Next, in a microwave safe dish, put about 1/4 cup of Nutella and 2 teaspoon of oil. Microwave on HIGH for 30 – 45 seconds or until melted. Then fill the cups less than halfway, pour some Nutella mixture then top with batter, repeat. Then you can top each one with a little more Nutella. Cook as directed on the back of the box. These are A.MAZ.ING. <3
Because these taste so good I hope you are forgive me the shortcuts. But seriously, we are busy, and sometimes you just have to cut corners. I am grateful for my little Dough Boy friend for quick, yummy treats like this. Enjoy!
