30 Black Bean Recipes

I love black beans.  When I was doing the vegetarian thing I ate them almost every day.  I loved all the recipes I made that felt healthy and yet still tasted good.  Did you know that black beans help strengthen the kidneys and adrenal glands?  And in turn that helps promote physical growth and development just like the protein in meat.  However, unlike meat, beans don’t add cholesterol, saturated fat, or toxic nitrogen byproducts.  In fact, they are one of those magical foods that can help lower cholesterol.  So they are filling and good for you.

Maybe being Cuban helps with my love of beans for it’s a staple food item in the Latin food world and to this day, no one has ever come close to making my Abuela’s congri, which is basically just white rice and black beans cooked together with some garlic, onions, lots of spices, and sometimes meat, usually pork.
